High Definition Render Pipeline • Unity introduces HDRP in 2018.2 • This render pipeline is now based on physically accurate lighting and shading • This allows us to do real time physically plausible rendering
But how to have beautiful materials for HDRP?
AxF Importer • AxF is file format used by X-Rite Material Scanner such as TAC-7. • This will generate an exact digital copy of your material (color, texture, gloss, translucency and transparency) • Unity will have a direct AxF importer for 2018.3 (tentative)
AxF Importer Pros: • Have an exact copy of your material • Simple to use Cons: • Very expensive (> 1 000 000$USD for tac 7) • Once a material is scanned, it can only be that material, can’t have artistic change on it
